Richmond's Studio is an educational program located in the Phil Mechanic Building in the River Arts District of
Asheville, NC.  Founded by artist/ art teacher Richmond Smith in 2006 and taught by local contemporary Asheville
artists, this program is devoted to teaching students the fine arts of drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture
amongst other working contemporary artists of Asheville.   The mission of this program is to promote learning of the
fine arts using traditional and contemporary techniques in order for the student to create their own unique artwork
through this instruction.  More than anything else, our teachers wants to show all students that art is something that
can make them happy throughout their entire life.  Not only can they experience this happiness through the process
of creating new artwork, but each student will come away from a class by looking at the world from a different
perspective.
Types of classes:

All fine art classes rotate on a six-week class schedule and all materials are
included in the cost of the class.

  • Children's classes (K-12):  Home school and after school art classes.
From beginner to advance levels of students, classes are designed to
cover a wide range of media from drawing to painting and even
    printmaking and sculpture.

  • Adult classes:  Evening classes and weekend classes.  From beginning
to advanced levels of students, classes specialize in teaching drawing
basics and more advanced techniques of painting with the painting
media of oil, acrylic, and watercolor.

Payment information: A $25 deposit is required when you sign up for the class
in order to save your spot in the class. The rest of the payment for the class is
