Due to Spring Break,, classes will be cancelled on March 26 and 28, 2013. Introduction to Screen Printing (Grades 4 - 8): Tuesdays, 10:00 - 12:00. February 26 - April 9, 2013. Learn to print your own designs on T-shirts, fabric, cards, and paper. Using paper stencils and drawing fluid/screen filler method, you will achieve amazing effects and create multiples of your artwork. We will also use a photo emulsion technique used by professionals in screen printing to print a photo collage onto fabric. Making Multiples! (Grades K - 3): Tuesdays, 1:00 - 3:00. February 26 - April 9, 2013. In this introduction to printmaking class, students will be doing several simple printmaking processes including styrofoam block printing, monotypes, monoprints, bas relief printing, and screen printing as well as learning how to draw landscapes and portraits in this wonderful printmaking class. Multi-color linoleum block printing (Grades 6-12): Thursdays, 1:00 - 3:00. February 28 - April 11, 2013. Students will learn this wonderful printing process in which we will use be carving into a linoleum block to create our own wonderful block prints with multiple colors. This is a complicated process of printing with some amazing results and a unique to way to print your own beautiful artwork. |

| 1st Session: January 8 - February 14, 2013. DRAWING AND PAINTING! All classes are $120 per six-week session or $20 per class. Make- up classes are scheduled on February 19 and 21, and are $20 per student. All About Drawing! (Grades 4 - 8) Tuesdays, 10:00 - 12:00. January 8 - February 12, 2013. In this drawing class, we will be doing a wide variety of drawing exercises in which we will be studying contour line, shading and value, perspective but, most importantly, learning how to see in order to become better at drawing. Since drawing is the foundation of all other art forms, students will learn the fundamentals of drawing in order to become better artists! Creating Masterpieces from the Masters!(Grades K - 3) Tuesdays, 1:00 - 3:00. January 8 - February 12, 2013. In this drawing and painting class, students explore the theory and practice of making art by learning about master techniques. Students will learn about Impressionism by studying still-life drawings of Cezanne to do their own still life drawing, learn how abstract artists use music similar to Kandinsky to do their own abstract watercolor paintings, and study the Surrealists and portraiture to create acrylic portrait paintings combined with subconscious dream-like symbols. Introduction to Oil Painting (Grades 6 - 12) Thursdays, 1:00 - 3:00. January 10 - February 14, 2013. This class is designed for the art student that wants to learn the wonders of using the old, but exciting medium of oil paint. We will learn some of the tricks, tools and techniques and learn how to use different medium in order to create beautiful art work on canvas! |
| 3rd Session: April 23 - May 30, 2013. Batik, Sculpture, and Stained Glass Mosaics! All classes are $120 per six-week session or $20 per class. Make-up classes are scheduled on June 4 and 6, and are $20 per student. Clay Creations! (Grades 4 - 8): Tuesdays 10:00 - 12:00. April 23 - May 28, 2013. Students will learn some basic hand building techniques of clay and how to use clay tools in order to create functional mugs, animal banks, and vases with their own sculptural creative additions to these pieces. Fun with Fabric Design: Batik Painting! (Grades K - 3): Tuesdays, 1:00 - 3:00. April 23 - May 28, 2013. Batik is an ancient Asian art form using batik wax and fabric dye to create brightly colored, beautiful designs on fabric. We will be creating our own wall hangings, silk scarves, bandannas, and T-shirts with their own designs. Stained Glass Mosaics (Grades 6 -12): Thursdays, 1:00 - 3:00. April 25 - May 30, 2013. Get ready to create your own mosaic masterpiece! Develop your own design, transfer it to a concrete block or plywood, and learn a variety of mosaic techniques including glass cutting, classic mosaic laying, and grouting. Your finished piece will be a beautiful wall hanging or stepping stone! |
